Insangel13 all dayer

An all-day event for the Motor Neurone Disease charity; I'm advised it may have been a good idea that i neglected to use the stephen hawking sample i had lined up specially. Boo. Old, old classic Adventure got played for the first time, i can't imagine anyone cares however. No injuries whatsoever in this one - pissy, eh?

Sunday, April 4th: the Head of Steam, Newcastle

...and John Egdell .....and the sound explosion

Well, if you book DiW, he will Come! A reasonably noisy set here, just to piss off Sound Explosion fans. Childish, but always fun.

This is what it would look like if you met DiW in a dark alley. No, don't be scared! It's not really happening!

Wednesday February 11th 2004: The Fishtank, Durham

A surprise appearance here as part of a promo launch party for the new Courtney Love album. Which made perfect sense. Sadly the local grunge girls didn't take kindly to my improv remix of Doll Parts - can't think whyever.

Much calmer set than normal here in the intimate surroundings of the modest durham nightstrife. Another new track got its first airing, snuck in there somewhere.

with MeandthetwinS

A slightly calmer set here after the V/Vm shenanigans... Although apologies to The Toddster who was so nearly the first DiW fatality. Maybe next time!

Modo was apparently voted no.1 venue for music in Sunderland. Poor, poor bastards.

Saturday January 24th 2004: The Cluny, Newcastle

With V/VM , Jazzfinger

and Die Clatterschenchkenfietermaus

Anarchy in the Ouse Burn!

DiW More than proud to be part of an evening already entrenched in Byker folklore... Unhappy punters-o-plenty seemed disturbed and mentally perturbed by the V/Vm experience, leading to a near-riot and someone booed.

Simondo lost a lot of blood and some unimportant small pieces of flesh; and was forcibly dragged off stage and thrown onto the street by ungodly bouncers at some point later on, only adding to the overall chaos, tears, confusion and merriment. Great stuff, but I'm probably now barred from Ouseburn Valley for the forseeable future, perhaps DiW participation in the Distraction Weekender could be in doubt, one will have to watch this space. (*News Flush - apparently it's all clear)

The DiW set went down right well though! A nice and harsh one to suit the evening, including two gabba-tastic new tracks probably due to burrow their way unto the next album.

SETLIST:

This perform-ance was captured on tape recording and used for the "Dressed In Wires Ruined My Birthday" album.

Saturday December 6th, 2003 : The Dog & Parrot, Newcastle

September 25th, 2003 : the Head of Steam, Newcastle

with Construction Yards at Night and

The Rest

Gods musta been smiling on this one... Not a single crash. Even Foxy Boxing, the tempestuous little madam, didn't glitch or burn out as she usually does. But god DANG those Babycham hangovers.

Premiered another new track, "Barbarians At The Gate, And All That".

There were no little stools to kick over, but incidently there was for a while a fun new game for all the family in the Head of Steam basement; called "Spot The Manky Manky Bloodstains On The Walls".

August 3rd, 2003 : The Cluny, Newcastle

the First Distraction Weekender

Up there with the creamy crop of the North East electronica circus. Good stuff. Swines put me on twice (on first AND last), happily ensuring the minimum attendance for either set! Get in! First set went tremendously well, though. (glitch free, crash free.) Premiered another three new tracks, "I'm Going To Buff All My Floors", "Pool Of Hair And Teeth, Matted", and "Silver Saliva". Second set? nae sae good... the creamy crop had obviously battered the Cluny's sound system to a pulp by then, so DIW had to unleash a spiteful wall of digital feedback (only thing I had that was loud enough to overcome the woes). Happily this barbaric nonsense was just enough to shovel the dancefloor clean of the Newcastle techno-goth fraternity still loitering from the Astro & Prism and Snatch sets. Which i assume was the idea of putting DIW on last anywhows.

went a bit nutty and put a foot through an amplifier at one point, I recall.

and kicked a little stool over.

Sunday July 13th 2003: The Dog & Parrot, Newcastle

with TEARS Of ABRAHAM and SEISMIC

flyer

first gig... went very well, thanks for asking. good time had by all... i was put on last as it was generally assumed i'd clear the room... Played a general set of all sortsa stuff, just to give the PA a good old seeing to, seeing what works and what don't work... Premiered two hardly-finished tracks off the new album '"The Girly Clearout", Seven Treatments for Black Ants, and Bully For Leonard. Never mind the software generally going off on one near the end, leaving us enjoying a random and far too exciting series of glitches and buggered clips, leaving us sans Sheila and Party In My Mouth - sadly. If anyone wants to donate me a soundcard that actually works...

There's actually a review knocking around somewhere. Here it is.
